IA will exhibit its virtual reality project delivery platform at the inaugural conference showcasing retail and technology.
What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas, and the first edition of Shoptalk—a new conference from May 15 to 18 with a hyper focus on experience design and technology—will be an event to follow on Web 2.0. In addition to a speaker lineup that includes executives from major brands including IA clients Jet.com, Combatant Gentlemen, Raise, and Ulta, IA will host a booth to engage show-goers with the firm’s project portfolio and virtual reality project delivery process.
From modeling in Revit to cost models to control scheduling concerns, virtual reality is integrated into IA’s design process. “This is not a discreet solution for individual problems,” says IA’s Director of Design Intelligence, Guy Messick, AIA. “This is an integrated platform to deliver service to our clients, and that’s one of the things that makes IA unique.” IA partners with software developer InsiteVR and hardware provider Matterport to constantly improve project delivery.
Visitors to the booth can fully immerse in high-resolution renderings of virtual environments, and conduct self-guided VR tours through IA-designed retail and corporate spaces. A separate area within the booth is designated for further portfolio discovery and discussions around the firm’s increasing use of heat mapping in crowd simulations, a particularly helpful process for retail planning.
“IA sets itself apart from other firms through the use of experiential technology as a programming and visualization tool,” says IA’s Global Project Director of Retail Strategy Anthony Simon. “The beauty of the virtual reality process is that it furthers human understanding and provides a sense of scale to help us experience environments through the eyes of potential users. And in retail, customer experience is king.”
